The 3rd workshop will take place on Friday, April 1st at 18:00 at the Municipal Art Gallery of Chania.
What are the stories and identities of Nea Chora? How does the local community identify with them and how do they come into their everyday life? Come and share with us all those important features of the place that make it unique.
What happened in the first two workshops?
On Friday, March 11, the historian and scientific coordinator of the project, Eleni Kyramargiou, opened the discussion. Afterwards, the local collaborators, the historian Katerina Anagnostaki and the sociologist Samy Alexandridis, analyzed the historical evolution of the movement of populations with a special focus on Crete and Chania. Finally, the architect Iris Perouliou Sergaki spoke about the theory of participatory design and placemaking and how they were integrated into the workshops. Then, on Sunday, March 13, we walked through Nea Chora and learned about its history as well as its modern day-to-day life. We met interesting people, with special love for their place, and we can't wait to meet them again!
