ppCITY - Integrated Spatial Decision-Making System & Participatory Planning

Commonspace participates in the implementation of the research project entitled "Integrated Spatial Decision-Making System & Participatory Planning", with the acronym ppCity, code T1EDK-02901 and code MIS 5029727 within the framework of the Single Action of State Aid for Research, Technological Development & Innovation "RESEARCH - CREATE – I INNOVATE” by E.P. "Competitiveness, Entrepreneurship and Innovation (EPANEK)", ESPA 2014 - 2020.

The project is co-financed by the European Union and the European Regional Development Fund.

The members of the Partnership of this project are:

  • DOTSOFT INTEGRATED INTERNET AND DATABASE APPLICATIONS CORPORATION

  • GEOSPATIAL ENABLING TECHNOLOGIES GEOINFORMATION TRADING LIMITED LIABILITY COMPANY

  • WORKERS' COOPERATIVE SOCIALITY

Project Coordinator: Anastasios Manos - DOTSOFT AE

Scientific Project Manager: Eleni Mougiakou - Commonspace SYN. ERG.

The project aims to develop an Integrated Spatial Decision-Making & Participatory Planning System for the monitoring and planning of projects and actions at the city and neighborhood level, centered on the citizen, the environment and the quality of life. The involvement and participation of the public and users of the public space is essential and decisive. The system consists of three (3) basic management, interaction and analysis platforms. The final product is a modular system. The core of the system is the participatory design platform with the other two operating as supporting and reinforcing, but also autonomously. The project develops infrastructure to integrate IoT sensor data into the participatory design platform.

As part of the project, the following will be implemented:

  • Platform 1: Data Collection & Problem Identification: is the basic infrastructure in which the necessary data is gathered for the operation of the planning and decision-making process. The goal is for the hub to collect and manage data on the environment and the quality of life in the city. It works practically as a data-hub, exploits existing data and services through interconnection techniques, allows its enrichment with new data sets and supports their sharing and reuse using internet services.

  • Platform 2: Participatory Planning / ppGIS: unique in concept participatory planning application system, presenting innovative features. The platform provides the tools, knowledge and steps for equal and meaningful participation of citizens and users. The proposed projects and actions set by the body are communicated to the users through a targeted and structured communication campaign to ensure increased participation of the target groups. It supports processes of analysis and selection of appropriate design solutions, proposals, ideas. Through multi-criteria analysis algorithms, interventions are prioritized, as well as the weight of the opinion of the participants, who are invited to participate in all stages of the process.

  • Platform 3: Monitoring Indicators / Dashboard: works as a tool for monitoring and evaluating emerging problems and solutions. It includes an extensive palette of monitoring quality of life indicators based on European standards. It is a valuable tool for analyzing the state of the municipality, extracting comparable results, quantifying quality data. It supports the organization in its strategic planning, in claiming funding and in monitoring the implementation of programs and projects.

  • Integrated System: aims at the integration of the three subsystems, the operation control and the documentation of the integrated system.

Through this project, the collaborating companies will integrate new knowledge and innovation into the services and products they already provide, which will strengthen them, increasing their competitiveness and their research potential, while at the same time creating added value and new positions work. On the other hand, the project will document the connection of research with economic development and society thus contributing positively to the national economy and Greek society.
